What participants have shared
Norzaiti Hassan
Subang Jaya, Selangor
"I had been putting off a MyKad renewal for months because I kept getting different information online about which counter handles which matter. After one session at Civic Loom, I had a clear one-page sheet of exactly where to go, what to bring, and roughly how long to allow. Done within a week."

"We were trying to handle three separate applications at once — school enrolment, a vehicle transfer and a tenancy stamp duty form — all within a two-week window before my wife started work. The Form Preparation package covered all of them. The second session caught a gap in our documents that would have sent us back twice."

"My mother is in her seventies and was very reluctant to engage with any online portal. The Navigation Session was calm, patient and conducted mostly in Bahasa — she came home with a clear printed sheet she could follow herself. The officer didn't rush her once. I really appreciated that."

"I joined the Orientation Programme when I moved back to PJ after eight years abroad. Things had changed a lot — the bus routes, the e-government portals, even how council complaints work. The six sessions gave me a solid grounding. The guided visit to the service centre was especially useful for seeing the layout before I needed to be there for real."

"I wasn't sure whether a Navigation Session or the Form Preparation package was the right fit for me. When I enquired, they actually asked a few questions and suggested the Navigation Session rather than the more expensive package — which turned out to be exactly right. I appreciated that they didn't just push me toward the higher option."

"The Form Preparation package covered a housing loan discharge and two utility account transfers. The officer spotted that one of my forms used an old version of the application — that small catch alone saved me a wasted trip. The message support between sessions was genuinely useful too, not just a formality."

A family handling multiple admin changes after a house move
Form Preparation Support · 2 weeks
The Situation
A family of four had recently purchased a property in Kelana Jaya. Within two months they needed to update their address on multiple government records, transfer a car, and submit school enrolment paperwork for two children. Each process required different documents, some of which overlapped. They were unsure which to tackle first.
What We Did
The first session mapped out all four applications and identified which documents served multiple purposes. We advised them to sequence the address update first, as it would simplify the vehicle transfer. The folder assembled after session two had labelled sections for each application, with a cover note listing the correct counter at each relevant office.
The Result
All four applications were submitted within the two-week package window. One application required a single follow-up visit; the others were processed without additional trips. The family reported that having the folder during counter visits saved considerable time at each location.
A newly arrived expatriate family settling into Klang Valley
Community Orientation Programme · 6 weeks
The Situation
A couple relocating to Petaling Jaya for work had no prior experience living in Malaysia. They had questions spanning public transport, school options, council services and how to find community groups in their new neighbourhood. Online searches produced inconsistent or outdated information.
What We Did
They joined the Orientation Programme's June intake. Over six weeks, the sessions covered each topic area, supplemented by their neighbourhood handbook which included local contact numbers and a map of nearby facilities. The guided service-centre visit in week five gave them a clear mental map of what to expect when they eventually needed to attend in person.
The Result
By the end of the programme the couple had enrolled their children in school, activated their Touch 'n Go cards, and successfully contacted their local council about a drainage matter. They continued to use the group chat for small questions in the three months that followed.
An older adult navigating an estate-related administrative process
Navigation Session · 60 minutes
The Situation
Following the death of a parent, a Selangor resident in her sixties was managing an estate matter that involved several government offices. She was unfamiliar with the relevant departments and felt overwhelmed by the terminology in correspondence she had received. She came to the session with a folder of letters she didn't fully understand.
What We Did
The session worked through each letter, explaining in plain language what was being requested and which office had sent it. A pathway sheet mapped the order in which to approach the relevant departments, along with the documents typically required at each stage. We were clear about the point at which a legal professional would need to be involved, and provided a referral to a relevant directory.
The Result
She left with a clear pathway sheet and a better understanding of the overall process. Her follow-up email — used within a week — clarified one remaining question about submission timing. She subsequently engaged a legal professional for the elements that required one, going in with a clearer picture of what she needed from them.
